Coalition Strategy Group was created for that purpose.
CSG is a coalition of experienced nonprofit executives, fundraisers, human resources leaders, bankers, governance experts, and strategists. We work alongside leaders, boards, and teams to bring clarity to complex challenges and help organizations move from intention to action.
No two organizations are alike, so we do not force every client into the same process. We build the engagement around the need—bringing together the right experience, the right perspective, and the right people for the work ahead.
Why a coalition?
The hardest organizational challenges rarely belong to one discipline. A fundraising challenge may also be a governance, culture, strategy, or communications challenge. Growth may require leadership, talent, financial planning, and better systems at the same time.
Our coalition model allows us to assemble a team with complementary experience for each engagement. Clients receive specialized expertise without unnecessary layers, along with a clear CSG lead who remains accountable for the work.

CSG was founded on a simple belief: important work should be guided by people who have actually done it.
We respect education, credentials, and professional titles. Many members of our coalition have earned them. But you will not find us building our case around initials after a name. Degrees and credentials describe part of a professional's preparation. Their work shows how they lead, solve problems, exercise judgment, and deliver when the work becomes difficult.
Our professionals have sat in the seats our clients occupy. They have led organizations and teams, managed budgets, built programs, raised resources, strengthened boards, guided change, navigated crises, built partnerships, and carried responsibility for results.
That experience matters. It produces advice grounded in reality—not theory alone—and solutions designed to work within real cultures, real constraints, and real communities.

Coalition Strategy Group is physically located in Iowa and North Carolina, and most of our consultants live in Iowa, Illinois, and North Carolina, but we don’t have any geographic boundaries on where we provide services. We are happy to meet virtually, or in-person anywhere.
